The Martial Arts Industry takes a kick up the BUM

Whatever the industry you will always get a percentage of people that fall way short of the professional standard that is required to represent their trade and therefore short change the customer or in the case of the MA industry the student.
The differences in quality do not just adhere to what the instructor can do on the matted arena but in everything he or she does to promote their discipline.
You only have to spend five minutes on youtube to establish that their is a very wide spectrum of quality within the MA industry that unfortunately catches a lot of eager and enthusiastic students out.
The instant gratification lifestyle so many people are exposed to has led many of the traditional time served practices within the martial arts being replaced by silly, unrealistic promises. - Get a black belt in just 12 months - We guarantee to increase your safety in just 6 sessions - Become the next UFC champion in just 12 weeks.
I cringe at a lot of the marketing tactics instructors have used to lure potential new students into their training arenas.
Apart from being blatant lies in many cases, these marketing tactics can often result in the student being taught dangerous techniques, which build a false sense of security and confidence and will have a 0% chance of being successful in a realistic encounter outside of the training arena.
The combination of ego, a false sense of confidence, poor tuition and ridiculous techniques has and is continuing to produce an army of people that undermine the good work that martial arts training can do.
We all know of somebody who wears the T.Shirts, talks the talk, struts around the gym like they own it and yet in most cases has never been in a violent confrontation in their lives and when somethings looks like it is going wrong on a night out will be the first to disappear.
As an industry we need to reflect on why martial arts has stood the test of time and the many benefits attached to dedicating time to this fantastic, life changing activity.
A group of like minded people who have dedicated many years to developing martial arts schools where the real benefits of martial arts are portrayed have joined forces to create a web site called the MA Network.
The web site is designed to provide accurate information on martial arts and personal safety schools who demonstrate that they approach the service they provide with a professional attitude.
The schools promoted on the site have clearly demonstrated that everything is in place to provide their students with a friendly, honest and productive relationship.
They are have operational procedures that provide the student with:
  • Relevant Insurance
  • Relevant CRB Checks
  • Relevant Coaching Qualifications
  • Relevant Teaching Experience
  • Relevant Marketing Messages to promote their chosen discipline
  • Relevant Student Progressions Systems
The MA Network team consists of 12 experienced instructors and school owners from different disciplines and locations so that the web site is correctly represented by the disciplines the visitors require.
The MA Network has a singular objective of providing people with honest and accurate information about groups so that we can restore some of the core values martial arts has been educating us in for thousands of years.
MA Network is a not for profit concept who welcomes professional groups to promote themselves & students to be educated.
